‘Meet Cute’ as described on Wikipedia is “a situation in which a future romantic couple meets for the first time in a way that is considered adorable, entertaining, or amusing”.

From a digital marketing or even personal perspective when you publish different types of content on the web that are considered adorable, entertaining or amusing, you may find it initiates a situation in which the audience can meet with your ‘brand voice’ and have the ability to ‘interact or engage’ for the first time.

The meet cute technique commonly used by filmmakers “creates an artificial situation to bring characters together in a theoretically entertaining manner that leads to a humorous clash of personalities or beliefs, embarrassing situations, or comical misunderstandings that further drive the plot.”

Socially, people tend to engage in initial meetings, form and build rapport, relationships and network offline. In respect to the online world the meet cute technique can be applied by brand experts and digital marketers, whereby they create artificial situations online via the power of video ads, blogs, and tweets etc. bringing audiences together in a theoretically entertaining and (storytelling) manner that leads to a humorous clash of personalities or beliefs, embarrassing situations, or comical misunderstandings that further drive the plot.”

Although this type of situation is staple in many romantic comedies, ‘Meet Cute’ does not just happen in the ‘movies’ it happens in real life situations every day somewhere in the world and on the World Wide Web. With a good brand strategy and good brand marketing you can romance your audience with meet cute micro moments and have them fall in love with your brand.
